Ceratopteris richardii is a Water Sprite species that resembles Ceratopteris thalictroides in appearance. It can be differentiated from C. thalictroides by the number of spores per sporangium, with C. richardii featuring 16-spored sporangia and C. thalictroides having 32-spored sporangia.
