Description

Nesaea pedicellata is a plant native to Africa, commonly found in temporary puddles and bogs. It has been known since 1980 but has only recently become available to aquarium hobbyists. Healthy plants produce long, light green leaves on an orange to light red stem. The leaves resemble those of Ammania, earning it the nickname "yellow Ammania". N. pedicellata thrives under medium light and can tolerate a regular substrate. However, it requires regular fertilization with micro and macronutrients, as it may take time to recover from nutrient deficiencies, especially nitrate deficiency. The plant is susceptible to elevated potassium levels. CO2 injection is recommended to promote bushy growth and shorter internodes. N. pedicellata can be grown emersed in a moist terrarium, where it develops dark green foliage and thin light red stems. Propagation occurs through cuttings of top or lateral shoots, which may require regular nutrient doses for optimal growth. Due to its large size, N. pedicellata is suitable for the middle- and background of larger tanks (190 l and above).
